Cheshire Nature Recovery Consultation
Cheshire’s local authorities have launched a survey giving individuals and organisations the opportunity to start shaping a Local Nature Recovery Strategy for the region.
The goal is to develop a blueprint to help wildlife thrive, improve our ecological network, and target investment in nature to help us adapt to climate change and improve places where we live, work and play.
Central government guidance suggests that nature recovery strategies are likely to propose actions such as:
- creating wetlands
- restoring peatlands
- planting trees and hedgerows
- more sustainable management of existing woodlands and other habitats like grasslands
However, every region must identify the most appropriate local options.
The survey itself is only 10 questions, so please do take the opportunity to complete it and say what matters to you. You can then register your email for updates on further ways to get involved as the strategy evolves.
Are you a landowner or land manager?
Views from landowners, agricultural tenants and land managers are particularly important at this stage. To ensure the resulting strategy is tailored to local priorities, and is both practical and achievable, input from people who know and understand the land is vital.
You can also pledge a nature recovery commitment for your own land and mark it on an interactive map to show what difference you intend to make. We know many farmers and landowners are already working hard for nature – if that’s you, this is your chance to shout about your efforts!
Call for sites for investment in nature recovery
If you have land with potential as a priority area for investment in nature recovery, you can register the land for consideration. Registration is confidential, and there’s no commitment at this stage.
